About Trinidad and Tobago
Trinidad and Tobago is a country in the Caribbean/West Indies. It was first colonized by the Spanish, specifically founded by Christopher Columbus. The name Trinidad came from Columbus. When he first arrived on the island, he saw three mountains and it reminded him of the holy trinity. He used the word "trinity" to name the island. The islands eventually came under British control in the early 19th century.
Trinidad is comprised mostly of Indians and Blacks and people with a mix of both of those races. Just over one million people make up the population of the country. The country is one of the most prosperous in the Caribbean thanks largely to petroleum and natural gas production and processing, however the country is not nearly as prosperous as the United States.
Trinidad looses a net 3 people per 1000 every year due to emigration. Most of the people travel move either to the United States or Britain to pursue a life of more opportunity or to continue schooling at more resourceful universities outside of the country.
